A STORY WORTH TELLING

Losing the love of your life is not something you ever get over.  When you get married, two become one, and when part of that one-flesh relationship dies, part of you dies with them.  I can't imagine how hard it is to be in love with a spouse that is with you one day and gone the next.

Doing life without my Grandpa the last year and a half has been hard on my Grandma and hard for us to watch.  They were married for 66 years and were still absolutely crazy about each other.  During one of my visits with Meme, I asked her what she missed the most about Papa being gone.  She looked at me and without hesitation she said, "EVERYTHING."  She was lost without him and completely brokenhearted.

Today, we are the ones that are left brokenhearted.
My sweet Grandma passed away this morning.

Today is the end to a love story that was lived out so beautifully for all to see.  Over the years, they never stopped telling their story.  The story of how they met, how he proposed, where they went to get a marriage license and a new dress.  Hearing them share their love story made us believe in true love.  When Papa told it from his perspective, he always included the fact that the first time he saw her, she was wearing a see-through black shirt that was... real nice.  Meme never confirmed or denied his version of their story, she just sat there and smiled.

Today, she got to see him.
Her Prince Charming.
She got to run into the arms of the love of her life.
The one who pursued her and loved her for 66 years.

Today, Meme didn't just get to see her man, she got to see Him!
Her Savior.
She got to run into the arms of the One who created her.
The One who gave His life for her and loved her for 89 years.

Today, she got to meet Jesus!

"For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world,
but to save the world through Him."
{John 3:16-17}

My grandparent's love story, their marriage, is a beautiful, tangible picture of the unconditional and sacrificial love that God has for you and me.

God is absolutely crazy about you!
He loves you so much and wants a relationship with you that is so intimate, so personal, that you can't stop telling your story.  The story of God's amazing love for you.

Your life.
Your marriage.
They tell a story.

Is it a story worth telling?
Is it a story worth repeating?
Is it a story you hope will be duplicated and told for generations to come?

Tomorrow is a blank page, allow God to write the story you want to live.
