Alex received the Student Ambassador award at school.
He and nine others in his grade were chosen by the teachers and faculty because they display the following qualities: a good friend, sticks up for others, shows respect to those in authority, honest and truthful, and displays a Christ-like attitude.

One of their main responsibilities will be helping new students.  They will call the new 4th grade students this summer and build a relationship with them to help them transition better in the fall. They will also buddy up with the students who start in the middle of the year and befriend them and walk through the school day with them for a couple of weeks to help them.  Among some other things that they will do throughout the school year, they will even give up one recess a month to meet together.  ONE RECESS A MONTH!  In case it has been a long time since you were in elementary school, missing recess is a BIG deal.

Another thing Alex has been chosen to be part of this year is the 4th grade Safety Patrol. Everyday after school, he will help the students in car line get to their car safely. He has already started practicing his "Have A Nice Day".  He is soooo excited about being part of the patrol.  Oh, and he gets to wear a cool florescent yellow sash.  Saa-weet!

We are so proud of Alex and so thankful that the Lord has given him two unique opportunities this fall to serve his school and his classmates.  We look like Jesus when we are serving others.  It is hard to be focused on ourselves when we are focusing on others.
"But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
