On the plane today, Alex asked if he could borrow a pen to draw a picture of something he saw at the lake the morning he went fishing.
He told me that he saw a hill with a big tree on top.  The tree was all by itself.  On both sides of the tree, there were a bunch of trees together, but they were not near the one on top.  It was all alone and it was different that the other trees.

Then, in his sweet little boy voice, Alex said, "sometimes people feel like they are all alone, even when other people are all around."  Then as he drew the sun he said, "even if that is how we feel, we have to remember that we are not really alone because God is always with us and loves us, even if we are different."

I just love his heart!
"Do not let anyone think less of you because you are young.  Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity."

This is Alex at the end of our week in Arkansas.
He fell asleep in the middle of the afternoon the day before we left and napped for about an hour (which is not normal AT ALL).  I was afraid he was getting a little sick like I was, but he was just exhausted.

Maybe it was because of this... or this... or the four games of this.

I guess the two trips we made here could have has something to do with it.

Maybe it was staying the night with his cousins...

or digging in his great-grandparent's flower bed looking for cool rocks.

Now that I think about it, it could be the early morning fishing trip with his grandpa, or the hundreds of games of Yahtzee we played each night followed by some Andy Griffith reruns.

All of the above?
Yep, I think it is all of the above.

Even though we didn't get to do all the things we wanted to do or see all the people we wanted to see, we had a great trip.  Is it just me or do you ever feel like you need a vacation from your vacation?  When we get home, I plan on starting my week off the way Alex ended his, with a good nap.
