The youth staff took the students to the skate park today.  Alex and I meet them up there after football camp and hung out for a few hours.  This was Alex's first time to ride at a skate park.  He said it was a lot harder than he thought it would be.  He will probably just stick to riding in the driveway from now on.

Alex had his Back to School party tonight at Monkey Joe's.  His school is so good about giving the kids an opportunity to get together and play before school starts back.  It makes the 1st day a little easier because you have had a chance to see all your friends from last year and get to know some of the new students.

We are celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary today.  Since we dated for four and a half years before we got married, we have officially been together half of our lives.

There is nothing better than being married to your best friend.

Keith, Alex and I went downtown to Lake Eola tonight to hang out with some new friends we have made this summer.  It is always exciting because we never know who will show up.  I was surprised by the large crowd.  All of the weathered wooded benches were full.  They were sitting, visiting with each other and patiently waiting for the teenagers and college students that show up every Thursday tell them that it was time to eat.  All of their stories are different, all going through different things, but their common ground is life happen to them and it has left them homeless for this season in their lives.

Teresa, a lady we have gotten to know, is pregnant with triplets and is due in about 3 months.  She has been working down at the newspaper but has had to quit because of the pregnancy.  Please keep Teresa in your prayers.  She is on a new seizure medication and it is giving her a lot of trouble.
Dennis, who we just met tonight, has such a sweet spirit about him.  He was sharing with us that it has been difficult for him the last month.  He has lost weight due to the fact that he only gets a couple of meals a day.  He is living in his car and finding it very difficult to get food stamps.  He may have a job and a place to live lined out soon.  Please keep Dennis in your prayers.

We always leave downtown with a greater appreciation for what we have.  We have been so blessed by hanging out with them and sharing our lives with them.  Isn't it funny that when we go and serve others, we end up being the ones who are blessed!

Keith had such an incredible time with the 52 students he took to West Palm on mission trip.  They were able to see 146 people come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Below is a link to an article our church wrote about the trip.

Keith leaves today for West Palm, Florida.  He and the staff are taking the students on mission trip for eight days.  They will be working with an organization called Urban Youth Impact doing vbs in the mornings with inner city children and then doing adopt-a-block type ministry in the afternoons.  Please keep Keith and the students in your prayers this week!

Alex and I will be at home this week.  After being away from him for two weeks, we just felt it would be best to sit this one out.  We have a lot of game playing to catch up on.

We are finally home after two weeks of being on mission trip in Thailand. It always feels so good to be home after you've been out of town. we had such an wonderful time. we got to hang out with some of the most amazing teenagers in the world.

We were so excited to see Alex. Two weeks was a long time to be away. We went several days at a time with out even getting to talk to him. The eleven hours difference definitely complicated things. He did so great though. Next time, I hope we can take him. I think he would have loved it.

My parents flew down to Orlando and took care of Alex and Tucker. Thank you guys so much! We couldn't have done it with out you! Now, if Alex would quit calling me "Nina", that would be great!
